1-hour art and cultural demonstration by AZ Town Hall Board Member Alberto Olivas and Aztec dance capitana Alida Montiel will explain how the tradition of Aztec dance has helped to preserve Azteca culture and identity, and how the traditions and practices of the Aztec culture have adapted to modern lifestyles in Mexico and the United States.

The talk will include:
        • Overview of the structure of classical Azteca society and origin stories
        • Adaptation and response to colonization and Christianity
        • Evidence of ancient ties between Tenochtítlan and what is now Arizona
        • Proliferation of modern-day Azteca dance groups in Arizona and throughout the United States
